We should not build a US-Mexico border wall

During his presidential campaign, Donald Trump proposed to build a border wall between the U.S and Mexico. But, we don't really need it. Why? There are many reasons for saying no.

First, President Trump wants to build a wall to prevent a mass of undocumented immigrants and illegal drugs from Mexico. Yet, Mexico population growth has decrease dramatically. Following to the World Bank, the fertility rates in Mexico have declined from about 6.7 million in 1960 to about 2.1 million in 2016. The lower fertility the lower migration in the future. Following the Forbes magazine, it is also an important sign that the economy of Mexico has increased, and education levels have risen. We also have a high security system at the border. Basically, it is unlikely that the U.S is going to meet the era of mass illegal migration in the future since Mexico is improving. Even we build the wall, no one knows if the flow of drugs will be able to stop. Generally, the wall is unnecessary.

Second, the cost of the border wall is not properly stated, but it should cost about $18 billion or more, according to the CNN. The Trump administration is at risk of wasting large amount of money to spend on the border wall. President Trump insisted Mexico to pay for the wall during his campaign. However, Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto has emphatically rejected to do so. Then, the U.S taxpayers probably probably have to involve into this payment. Building the U.S-Mexico might hurt national's finance and citizen's money.

Third, The U.S Mexico border wall will have a negative impact on wildlife and farmers. Following the Fox News, the border wall will damage wildlife because "physical barriers prevent or discourage animals from accessing food, water, mates, and other critical resources by disrupting annual or seasonal migration and dispersal routes."Additionally, the U.S-Mexico border wall will make life harder on some South Texas farmers.

Eventually, I think that the U.S should not build a border wall. We can not predict what will happen in the future. We can not be sure that building a wall will be able to stop completely undocumented immigrant and illegal drugs. But, we are pretty sure that it will cost the billions of dollars, and it will hurt wildfire, farmers around the border. Importantly, an unnecessary US-Mexico border wall probably needs our money also.
